Practice Profile

Hogan Associates, has been immersed in the development environment of the south-west of Ireland - and the Cork region in particular -  for almost thirty years.

Since it's establishment as an architectural and town-planning consultancy in the 1970s it has expanded its capacity and skills in parallel with the needs of its clients - and in response to increasingly rapid changes in the marketplace and in the complexity of building and planning regulations. It now has three working directors, each responsible for differing but related aspects of design, planning and construction, and a highly-skilled backup team

It maintains close working relationships with administrative and techical officers of the planning authorities of the South-west region.  In addition contact is maintained with specialists in other planning and development-related disciplines so that an effective advisory team can be quickly assembled to service any given situation.

The practice works solely with private sector clients and has handled or participated in an exceptionally diverse range of projects.  These range from the masterplan for theredevelopment of the 50 hectare Ballincollig Barracks to the interior of the offices of the Investment Bank of Ireland in South Mall in Cork.  It acted as both town planners and architects in securing permission for the redevelopment and extension of Wilton Shopping Centre, including a new 60,000 sq.ft. supermarket.  In the leisure sector it has been responsible for the 5-star Killarney Park and Hayfield Manor hotels.  It co-ordinated the successful design-and-build competition entry for what is now the award-winning Gate Cinema project in inner-city Cork.  It is currently completing the 850 unit Mount Oval Village residential development in the Rochestown suburb of Cork.  Also in progress at present is a holiday resort development at Fota Island, where the 131 bedroom Sheraton Fota Island hotel and spa opened for business in May 2006, and which also encompasses 280 holiday units, a new golf course, marina, and clubhouse renovation.

Roddy Hogan is an architect and town-planner and former partner in housing design and town-planning specialists Delany McVeigh and Pike (now O'Mahony Pike) and was a founding director of the Cork-based planning consultancy McCutcheon Mulcahy.

He heads up the design side of the practice and has particular expertise in residential and masterplanning projects.

Patrick O'Hanlon joined the practice in 1991 having gained valuable internationalexperience, particularly in the commercial sector.  His skills include project management, interior / exterior colour design and the preparation of feasibilityconcepts for commercial / leisure projects.
